Planning Guidance and Audit Tool (PGA)
The Planning Guidance and Audit Tool (PGA) is a key tool for all schools providing extended services. With just a small investment of time, schools can analyse the services and activities that they and their Partnerships provide beyond the school day and the contribution this makes to the ‘Every Child Matters’ outcomes. Schools can also demonstrate how they are fulfilling key themes within the new inspection framework including:
- the school's community involvement and consultation processes
- the outcomes of wider partnerships
- the contribution that extended services make to the life chances of children, young people, and their parents
The data produced by the PGA can also be used as evidence in the quality assurance processes for extended schools, Quality in Extended Schools (QES) and Quality in Study Support (QiSS). Information collated by the PGA can support and inform the planning and development of extended services in schools and the wider partnership, and demonstrate the impact of providing a range of services beyond the school day.
The Planning Guide Section consists of key questions and guidance that schools and their governing bodies should consider in the delivery of extended services.
The audit enables schools to collection information about the wide range of extended provision that is accessible beyond the school day.
