The Planning Guidance Tool

The Planning Guidance section is intended to reinforce procedures already in place in schools and provide an overview of good practice in one place. The Planning Guidance poses a series of key questions that once complete can be used as evidence show that the school has adhered to the appropriate legal, contractual and health and safety guidelines when developing extended activities.

The Extended Schools Team will share the completed evidence with key officers within the LEA to enable them to target support and advice to schools where it is appropriate.

Planning Guidance Notes

The Planning Guidance section is divided into Business Viability and Probity; Personnel; Use of Buildings; Management and Governance; Legal and Contractual. For each of these categories, there are a series of key questions that all extended schools must ask themselves. It is very likely that the questionnaire will require more than one person to fill it in. Schools will want to share the answers with their Governing Bodies.
