Insurance

A school proposing to provide extended services must undertake an assessment of the insurance implications and costs, seeking professional advice if necessary.

The school should seek advice from the Local Authority before finalising any insurance arrangement for community facilities (it should be possible to provide insurance for the extended school functions through school's existing insurance arrangements through Sandwell M.B.C. Risk Management Services – coverage may be at no additional premium but please seek confirmation from the team on 0121 569 3650)

The Local Authority will undertake its own assessment of the insurance arrangements and if it judges those arrangements to be inadequate, make arrangements itself and charge the resultant cost to the schools community facilities funds.
